Konnnichiwa! Your shinobue shouldn't sound like a (Western) flute! Learn the technique of finger strike - Yubiuchi - to sound uniquely Japanese! When you first try yubiuchi, you might find it difficult to get the timing right. So let's use a familiar tune, so you can concentrate on learning yubiuchi without the burden of learning a totally new melody. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is an extremely good song for getting used to doing yubiuchi! It is a good song to practice kan on as well.
